GET ORGANIZED:

Make a list of everything that needs to get done and by whom with our Timeline Planner. Or use a free online planner like, Trello.

YOU’LL NEED:

  1. A field in a safe location out of the way of traffic and parking lots or a large indoor room/gym
  2. Foam pool noodles- consider cutting them in half to save money and make the game easier.
  3. Grapefruit size rubber ball or beach ball- more than one in case it pops.
  4. Table for registration
  5. A bracket if you have multiple teams. Here’s a tool to help with that.
  6. Cones or other items to designate the goal size and what’s out of bounds. Three full noodle lengths is good for goal size.
  7. Referees (optional)
  8. Signs and posters for directions
  9. Pinnies to separate the teams
  10. Cones to separate the fields if you are using more than one
  11. Prizes
  12. Timer
  13. Bullhorn or loud friend if you have more than one game going on at a time

HOW IT GOES DOWN:

  • Collect an entry fee from each person or team.
  • Team size is up to you- everyone can play at once or you can have substitutions depending on the field size
  • Designate a specific amount of time for the game to last, especially if you have more than one game going on.
  • Cheer everyone on!

THE RULES
Rules of Noodle Hockey are similar to field hockey and are designed to keep the game fun and fair.

  1. Both teams have goalies- they can only block the ball with the noodle or their bodies.
  2. If the ball goes out of bounds, everyone goes back to their goals and the team that didn’t knock it out starts.
  3. No hitting a person above the knees with the noodle.
  4. No holding or pinning the ball with your noodle.
  5. No kicking the ball with your feet.
  6. Team with the most goals wins.
