Background & Impact

While sports can be positive, they can also have a negative effect if you don’t prioritize your mental health. Throughout my life, sports often encouraged me to numb my emotions and push through pain. There’s definitely a stigma around being perceived as soft or talking about your emotions — those things aren’t normalized, and that can trickle into your outside life and have a negative effect off the court.

Positive Tracks’ mission to use sport as a vehicle for change really appealed to me. Ever since 7th grade, that’s what I did — I would go to the gym with my friend and get shots up after school. It created a sense of belonging which is something magical that sports can often do for people.

The best part of partnering with Positive Tracks was that I was given a framework to tackle the project and step-by-step guidance that helped make everything more manageable. If you’re on the fence about doing a Challenge, don’t worry. Positive Tracks will guide you and help you as much as you need. If it’s because you’re nervous, that’s good! It’s very important to get out of your comfort zone
