Get Started:
If you’re educating your community or raising awareness about a cause or a concern, consider what you want your audience to KNOW, to FEEL and to DO. You can start by answering these questions:
- What is the goal or problem to be addressed?
- What short term and long term goals do you want to achieve?
- What are the root causes or reasons behind the issue you are addressing?
- Why is the organization or cause important or worthy of support?
- Why should someone care about this cause or problem?
- What does the organization I’m supporting do?
- Why should someone join or give to this effort?
- How can someone join or give to this effort?
- Who are the stakeholders that I need to engage?
Suggested Tips:
- Use unique hashtags when posting on social media so people can search and find what you’re doing
- Organize an educational speech (here are some tips to help you do this)
- Create Calls to Action so participants and donors can join you and keep the momentum going:
- Ask people to follow you and your cause on social media
- Ask people to take a pledge or sign a pledge
- Ask people to donate to your cause
- Share ways to volunteer or get involved
- Use statistics from your cause and tie them to your campaign goals (Ex: For every $11 I raise, I will go one mile. 11 represents the number of children who are diagnosed with cancer each day.)
- Design a t-shirt
- Make an educational poster/flyer
- Create a story to share on social media with pictures and quotes that are easily shareable. Check out canva.com for free resources.
