  2. Check out the basics of organizing any event in our Week-By-Week Event Planner.  You can also use this resource to make a list of everything that needs to get done.

  4. Ask for help! Here are potential roles for an event committee.
  5. Learn about your cause so that you and others can better understand the issue and action steps they can take. Explore nonprofit organizations who may already be addressing the cause you want to support and help them out.

  • Use our step-by-step guide to promote your Challenge.

You'll Need

  1. For all sports, you’ll need a field or court – in or out doors to make it happen. Make sure you’re in a safe location out of the way of traffic and parking lots. Schools or local recreation areas are the best places to start.
  2. Table for team registration
  3. A bracket if you have multiple teams. Here’s a tool to help with that. Make sure you have a loser’s bracket too.
  4. Easel or table for the bracket so that everyone can see it.
  5. Balls, goals, racquets, etc
  6. Referees (optional)
  7. Signs and posters for directions to get to the location
  8. Prizes
  9. Timer
  10. Bullhorn or loud friend if you have more than one game going on at a time
  11. Rules – here’s a link with the rules of soccer and one for basketball.
  12. Music and a way to blast it

How It Plays Out

  • Check out our Day-Of Event Checklist so that your event is stress free and FUN.
  • If you’re fundraising, you can collect an entry fee from each person or team or ask people to consider a donation when they arrive.
  • Decide if you want to play a traditional game or have smaller games of 3 v 3, 4 v 4 or 5 v 5.
  • If you have more than one game going on at the same time, designate a specific amount of time for each game to last.
  • Pump up the volume with music and use it to start and stop play. This way players can hear any instructions about where to go between games.
  • Play and cheer everyone on!
