Positive Tracks Match Policy
Not every Challenge aims to raise funds, but if yours does, we are excited to offer you a match to help amplify your impact!
What is a match?
Matching funds are a way to boost the impact of money raised by Captains (young people like you) for a cause!
Here’s how it works:
You can raise as much as you want, and can, for your cause—but Positive Tracks will match up to $100 of what you raise. For example, if you raise $100, we’ll add $100, doubling your impact to $200. If you raise more than $100, we’ll still match the first $100.
What's the purpose of the match?
We match donations to show our belief in YOU and the power of youth-led action. It’s one way we invest in your leadership and the causes you care about.
Match Amount
- We provide a match up to $100 per Captain.
- If you’re working as part of a team or planning committee, we typically match up to $500 total per Challenge, which covers the first 5 Captains at $100 each.
- If your team has more than 5 Captains, the match amount may increase depending on your team size and our available budget. Make sure to talk to your Coach if you have questions or a larger team!
How We Send the Funds & Who Can Receive It
- We send a check directly to the organization you’re fundraising for, along with a letter that includes your name and a brief description of your Challenge.
- If there’s a specific chapter or location (e.g. Make-A-Wish Eastern Connecticut), or a memo note needed, please let us know. A memo line is a short note on the check that tells the organization how to use the money (for example: ‘Community Garden Project’)
- The organization must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (U.S. only). Learn more about what this is here.
Want to raise money for an organization that isn’t a nonprofit? We can still work with you! Our Coaches can help you plan your Challenge and we can still provide Starter Funds to support your event. Read more about our Starter Funds here.
Match Requirements
To receive a Positive Tracks match, you must:
- Raise funds through your Challenge
- Complete your post-Challenge form – even if you were working as a group or part of a committee
- Be responsive and complete all required steps during your partnership with Positive Tracks
When does Positive Tracks send the match?
- We aim to process matches as quickly as possible, but please allow up to 4–6 weeks after all Captains have submitted their post-Challenge form.
- If you’re on a tight deadline, let your Coach know and we’ll do our best to help.
